The Carroll Players General Membership Meeting will be on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Carroll Arts Center, located at 91 West Main Street, Westminster, MD 21157-4800.

If you have an interest in community theater or learning more about the Carroll Players, please feel free to attend! This meeting is open to the public.

Brunch for Rose Bryson

The Carroll Players will be attending a brunch for past member (and past Chairperson) Rose Bryson on May 20 at Johansson’s in Westminster at 12 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please contact Marcia at 410.876.2220.

Please note: only the lunches provided to Rose and her husband will be complimentary. All other guests, including board members, are responsible for their own lunch bills.

Auditions for “Big Bad” being held in April

The Carroll Players will be holding auditions for their summer show, “Big Bad,” April 3 & April 10 at 7:30 pm at The Carroll Arts Center.

The most notorious criminal in the fairy-tale world, Big Bad Wolf, is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by the countless quirky characters he has wronged. Some of the storybook characters are showing their true colors, not their “public persona”, so there is a lot of fun to be had with the characters. This is a show to be enjoyed by the entire family.

There are 14 parts available with gender and age flexibility. Everyone ages 10 through 100 is invited and encouraged to audition! The show will be held the weekend of August 10, with rehearsals starting the middle of June. The show will be directed by Denise McCoy.

Road shows coming to an end

Our traveling road shows are coming to an end on Friday, January 27, 2012. Please come out to see us at 8 p.m. at Baldwin’s Station Restaurant, 7618 Main Street, Sykesville, MD 21784. Advanced reservations are required and can be made up through the day of the performance: 410-795-1041. Included in the ticket price is a delicious three-course meal with entrée options. Tickets are $55 each, plus tax and tip. We have had a great time putting on classic 1940s radio shows and hope to see you at our last performance!

Traveling Show–Public Performance Dates

Hello! We are taking our shows on the road, but only a select few will be public. Tickets must be purchased at the applicable venues and not through Carroll Players. Our public performance dates are as follows:

Auditions will be held at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 East Main Street, Westminster, MD 21157 (New Life in Christ Room), from 7-9p on Tuesday July 12 and Wednesday July 13. We will be performing the suspense Sorry, Wrong Number followed by the romantic comedy The Shop Around the Corner as 1940s-style radio plays! We will be traveling to various locations in Baltimore and Carroll Counties to perform in fall 2011. Pls google Generic Radio and the play names for script info. Audition info for the fall 2011 production

We are still reviewing radio manuscripts for the fall 2011 production. However, please be sure to check back here every so often for audition information, which we hope to have posted by the end of June. Spread the word! Current script contenders include Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World and H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine.

We’re taking our show on the road!

That’s right. There will be a fall 2011 show and it will be a traveling show! Our plan for the fall 2011 production is to do a radio manuscript that requires minimal props, set, and costumes. Our hope is to take the show to senior centers, churches, and restaurants (for a small donation).
